McBride Street

Spare a thought for us in McBride Street
We find the horrendous traffic far from sweet
Highway 6 is so narrow hardly fit for a barrow
So you use McBride Street like a rat in a furrow

McBride Street used to be a connector road
Built and structured to take such a load
But now it's so busy the traffic drives us dizzy
For it was designed in the days of the tin lizzy

When will highway 6 be developed
For cars to travel like horses at a gallop
At the moment it's gridlocked and cars have to stop
To get to their destination they cannot

The residents of McBride street have had enough
Of Transit and the Council calling our bluff
It would be so neat if you gave us back our street
Or the politicians’ risk losing their seats
